The Record Online is the official online publication for Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Alongside the printed magazine The Record, this publication is dedicated to chapter and alumni news, events and opportunities, and serves a way for brothers to stay connected with the organization.

You Are Not Alone

The South Carolina Gamma chapter at Wofford College co-hosted the inaugural Cam’s Club 5K with Kappa Delta on April 28th, 2024. They walked to raise mental health awareness and promote suicide prevention. Cam’s Club, a heartfelt initiative, honors the memory of Cameron Pappas, a cherished Wofford student and former member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, who tragically passed away by suicide in 2016. Through this event, their goal was to pay tribute to Cameron and all individuals who have been affected by suicide while also raising funds for the Cameron Pappas Mental Health Fund, a fund created to support mental health initiatives at Wofford, and National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) Spartanburg.

The event began in Leonard Auditorium, featuring Lisa Pappas (Cameron’s mother), who shared her experience of losing Cameron, and Walker Ramseur (a current member of Kappa Delta), sharing her own experiences with combatting mental health issues. Additionally, representatives from Wofford’s counseling center spoke about their office’s resources.

Following the speakers, all members participated in a 5K walk. The festivities continued with a lively cookout led by members of SAE, completed with live music, information tables set up by representatives of NAMI and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), puppies, field games, and other fun-filled activities! They supported all organizations that are members of the Wofford community to participate.

The chapter is proud to announce the event raised over $8,000 and had roughly 300 participants! Donations were collected online through Eventbrite. Members of both organizations sent the fundraising page to any family or friends who would be interested in donating. The event was a terrific way to bring the Wofford community together.
