Looking for a way to stand out and grab attention on campus, the University of Kansas (Kansas Alpha) chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon developed a philanthropy event that was both out-of-the-box and unforgettable: Goat Yoga.
With their chapter newly re-established on campus, members wanted to do something creative that would turn heads. “We needed something that would get a lot of attention for a chapter that just got back on campus,” Caden Kowalczyk shared. “This event would have everyone’s head looking our way.”
Philanthropy Chair Cannen Gullet led the charge, coordinating the event with Moonhill Ranch, a local goat yoga provider in Lawrence. The planning process was “short and sweet,” and everything came together smoothly.

The event saw excellent attendance, with plenty of laughter and participation. “Everyone got a chance to have a goat jump up on their back along with getting a good stretch in,” Caden said. One of the most memorable (and hilarious) moments involved a goat choosing an unlucky participant for a bathroom break. Still, a more photo-worthy highlight was when another goat climbed on a brother and stayed there for the entire yoga session.
The chapter raised $205 through Venmo and cash donations, promoting the event throughout their Paddy Murphy Week. All proceeds went to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Kansas Alpha brothers were actively involved, joining guests in the yoga sessions and helping to keep the atmosphere fun and welcoming. The event supported a worthy cause and left a lasting impression. “This event has an annual impact on the Children’s Miracle Network, a hospital that helps sick children,” Caden mentioned.
Goat Yoga was more than just a unique idea — it was a great way to engage the community, raise funds, and show what the chapter stands for.
