The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails. – William Arthur Ward
In June, the Convention body signaled a need for change; little did they know that we were far more aligned than they were aware. Project Alpha identified a serious gap in our ability to bond our younger Brothers to our mission because they don’t understand our ideals or what it means to be a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Gentlemen are not made in the classroom. They’re shaped by real challenges, real relationships, and real responsibility.
SAE gives its members the essential life skills—leadership under pressure, integrity in action, brotherhood through adversity—that no textbook can teach but every successful man must master.
Given our charge to develop a new member education program, we now have the opportunity to create a legacy for the organization, to make a real difference in the lives of our undergraduates and in their future. As such, we are announcing the following organization changes:
Given his skill set, passion, and unique understanding of higher education, Dustin Stewart will work with Dr. Steadman Boston to mold the ideas and thoughts of the Member Education Task Force into the undergraduate education of the future. This means training the Chapters and alumni involved to make sure we have alignment and achieve the goals of the initiative: a better value proposition and better experience that binds our undergraduates to the organization for a lifetime. Dustin’s title will be Director of Program Innovation.
Given this move and the vacuum created by moving Dustin, we are promoting Dr. Anthony Mack to Director of Chapter Services to recognize both the results and his potential to lead a larger Chapter Services Team. Dr. Mack will keep his existing team and pick up three of Dustin’s team members.
Jake Harris, Director of Development and Expansion, will keep his existing team and add three members of Dustin’s team, plus Riley Sullivan, to ensure we have better coordination between new chapter starts and Membership and Records. Pete Engle is being promoted to Associate Director of Expansion.
Given the team’s strong work in Risk Management, Dr. Steadman Boston is being promoted to Senior Director of Operations, where he will be responsible for Risk Management, Alumni Engagement, the Province Archons, and Dustin in his new role.
Layne Smith will now lead the Risk Management Team.
Kevin Gath will continue to lead the Alumni Engagement Team and will report to Dr. Boston. Justin Maidenberg is moving to the Alumni team as Coordinator of Alumni Engagement to focus on Chapter Advisors. Dillan Humbard will continue to focus on his current responsibilities with awards and Alumni Associations.
Jake Showalter will be responsible for the Province Archons, reporting directly to Dr. Boston, signaling the significant investment being made to enable our volunteer-led organization to be better aligned with the Fraternity Service Center and to give them the resources required to be successful.
Dalphin Thomas-Hill will continue to be the Director of Finance and HR.
Jennifer Byrd-Alvarado will continue to be the Chief of Staff and be responsible for Education, Communications, Analytics, and the Database and IT.
Hannah Blenden will continue to report to Jennifer as Director of Education, responsible for current member education programs, educational events, and the National Ambassador Program. Her team has been challenged with breathing new life into Leadership School, generating more excitement around the program, and getting 80% of the Chapters in attendance.
All Changes are effective immediately.
