Thomas J. Sheehan (Washington & Lee ’90) joined the Washington and Lee University Board of Trustees on Oct. 17, at the board’s fall meeting in Lexington.

Thomas J. Sheehan graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He received his MBA in 1995 as a Dean’s Scholar from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sheehan is chair of Global Corporate and Investment Banking (GCIB) for BofA Securities, Inc., the institutional broker-dealer business of Bank of America.

Sheehan has spent his professional career in finance in the U.S. and Europe. He joined Bank of America in 2014 after spending 20 years at Morgan Stanley, and he and his family lived in London for a decade while he worked for both organizations. Before his current role at BofA, he was head of Global Healthcare Investment Banking and focused on strategic advisory and capital raising for healthcare clients. He was appointed to his current leadership role in September 2025 to focus on client strategy and leading the firm’s most critical global relationships, after serving as co-head of Global Investment Banking for the previous seven years. He is a member of Bank of America’s Management Committee and the Executive Committee of GCIB, among other roles at the bank.

As a student at W&L, Sheehan was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity (Virginia Sigma), the Contact Committee and the Omicron Delta Epsilon international honor society for economics. As an alumnus, Sheehan has supported W&L in a variety of volunteer roles, including as a Williams School Advisory Board member, co-chair of his class’s 25th reunion and an advocate for and active recruiter of W&L students in finance. He has also served as a board trustee of the American School in London and a director of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in New York.

Sheehan and his wife, Jennifer, reside in New York City and have three children, Caroline, Tommy and Kate.
