In August 2018, Sigma Alpha Epsilon received its largest estate gift since our founding in 1856. Lindley Bothwell (Southern California ’22) was a founder member of the chapter at USC, became an Honorary Eminent Supreme Archon, and volunteered in numerous other roles for our organization.
Bothwell died in June 1986 at the age of 84, leaving behind a beloved wife, Ann.
Ann Bothwell, remaining loyal to her husband’s wishes, bequeathed a generous part of the Bothwell estate to Sigma Alpha Epsilon upon her death, totaling $499,440. This substantial donation will help support SAE’s mission and programs for years to come, helping us to cultivate the next generation of True Gentlemen.
Planned giving is a thoughtful way to ensure your legacy remains true to who you are as you enter Chapter Eternal. Brother Bothwell wanted to support undergraduates for years to come, and chose to do that through a planned estate gift.
