Even the cold and steady rain couldn’t stop the men of the University of Minnesota (Minnesota Alpha) chapter from showing up for a cause that matters. Partnering with NMDP (formerly Be The Match and National Marrow Donor Program), the chapter helped register more than 95 potential donors during the recent Ski-U-Mah Against Cancer event on campus.
Hosted on the chapter’s front lawn, the event invited students to join the NMDP Registry by completing a quick cheek-swab test. Representatives from NMDP set up a tent and registration area, while Minnesota Alpha brothers engaged with students walking by, shared information about the program, and offered pizza to encourage participation despite the rain.
The chapter’s public relations team also played a major role in promoting the event. Through coordinated social media efforts, including posts on the chapter’s Instagram and story shares from individual members, Minnesota Alpha successfully amplified awareness and turnout. Volunteers further supported NMDP’s outreach at the university’s Memorial Union and freshman dorms, ensuring the message reached every corner of campus.
Their efforts contributed to a growing impact across the realm. Since August 1, 2025, 34 SAE chapters nationwide have collectively helped register more than 2,500 individuals to join the NMDP Registry, over 280 of those from Minnesota Alpha alone.
“The quote from The True Gentleman, ‘The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from goodwill,’ represents my kind intention to serve others and NMDP,” said Ryland, Eminent Archon of Minnesota Alpha. “I am grateful to have learned The True Gentleman, and I abide by it daily.”
Keesha, a representative from NMDP, commended the chapter’s commitment to the cause. “These men are a powerful example of what it means to champion our mission and lead with purpose,” she said.
Through dedication, teamwork, and genuine care for others, the Minnesota Alpha chapter continues to embody the True Gentleman’s spirit of service and compassion.
