The Council of Province Archons (COPA)

The Record | Volume 144 | Issue #2 | Fall 2025

WHAT DOES A PROVINCE ARCHON DO?

Think of a Province Archon as the Fraternity’s “regional coach.” Each Archon oversees a group of chapters — called a Province — and works to keep them connected to the larger Fraternity. They support chapter officers, guide alumni associations, and collaborate with house corporations to ensure every chapter has what it needs to succeed.

Province Archons also serve as the Fraternity’s eyes and ears in their area, sharing updates, best practices, and challenges with the national organization. Whether helping a chapter boost recruitment, fine-tune its Ritual, improve retention, or get its finances in order, Province Archons play a key role in keeping the “4 R’s” (recruitment, risk, retention, receivables) strong across the Realm.

For the first time, the Fraternity — through efforts led by Jake Showalter (Case Western Reserve ‘98) from the Alumni Engagement team — is making a deliberate effort to elevate the role of Province Archons. Dedicated resources have been assigned to work directly with Province Archons, aligning goals and strengthening collaboration to ensure chapters, alumni associations, and house corporations receive the support they need to thrive.

Alumni are encouraged to connect with their Province Archon, get involved with local chapter or housing initiatives, and help strengthen the bonds of brotherhood across the Realm.
