Brothers across the Realm gather on Founders’ Day to celebrate the founding of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and
reflect on the values that continue to unite our Brotherhood.
This past March, the SAE Foundation proudly launched the 1856 Society, a campaign created to honor
the legacy of our Founders and support the next generation of True Gentlemen. Thanks to the
generosity of our Brothers, the campaign raised $40,000 from over 400 donors.
As part of the 1856 Society, a new tradition was also launched: a limited-edition Founders’ Day
pin depicting the Black Warrior River – where Noble Leslie DeVotie first envisioned the ideals of
our Brotherhood. This unique collectible was introduced to eligible donors and will serve as the
first in a continuing series of annual keepsakes celebrating the founding of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
In addition, SAE Foundation board members, staff, and volunteers attended eight Founders’ Day events
across the country, connecting with more than 900 attendees to share the SAE Foundation’s mission.
Looking ahead, the Foundation is excited to build on this momentum and celebrate 170 years of the
Fraternity on March 9, 2026. We look forward to reuniting with familiar faces and welcoming new Brothers into
this growing tradition.
