Recognizing a lifetime of service and loyalty to the Fraternity, the Distinguished Service Award is the highest individual award a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon may receive. Their actions exhibit their understanding of the Fraternity’s teachings, adherence to Fraternity Laws, attention to promoting its welfare, and exemplary conduct that guards its honor and high standing.
The Fraternity has 355,000+ initiated members; only 159 have been recognized with the Distinguished Service Award. Eddie M. “Chip” Morgan, Jr. (Mississippi ‘73) was awarded his on October 27, 2023, in Oxford, Mississippi.
As a Province Archon and Chapter Advisor, Chip has single-handedly guided and molded countless collegians into True Gentlemen. He is also heavily involved with his local House Corporation and Alumni Association – serving integral leadership roles for both and holding himself responsible for bringing SAE members of all ages together. He continue’s to shepherd a lifetime of membership by recruiting prospective members at three schools, ensuring they are successful in college, and molding them into alumni leaders.
The Fraternity is not the only thing where Chip is a steadfast leader. His passion for protecting what he loves has helped 18 counties in Northwest Mississippi improve their agriculture, transportation, river management, tourism, literacy, and healthcare. This includes funding for higher education, developing plans for adult literacy, mitigating teacher shortages, and improving access to health care in rural areas among many other programs and initiatives. Through this, the Mississippi Delta region has new highways, bridges, and protected heritage areas.
Congratulations to Eddie M. “Chip” Morgan, Jr., the 157th recipient of Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s Distinguished Service Award.

Question-
One of my Great Uncles , Dave Callahan, was a “sub-Rosa “ member of the chapter at Ole Miss ( Gamma?) at the time that William Faulkner was a member.
Does the Chapter or does National have a photograph of the members of the Chapter during their time at UofMS? ( 1917-19 or so?).
Tim Callahan, Alabama Iota, ‘70, B-SC.
Congratulations to Brother Chip on receiving the DSA. THINK I was #82(?), decades back. A great honor. Thanks for your great contributions. Phi Alpha. John
