With heavy heart, we announce the passing of SAE Alumnus William C. “Bill” Pratt Jr. (Oklahoma ’49), who entered the Chapter Eternal on February 13 at the age of 96. Bill’s legacy within the SAE realm is profound, and his contributions span decades. As we mourn his loss, we celebrate his remarkable life and impact on our fraternity.
Bill’s journey within SAE is truly remarkable. He not only witnessed several historic chapters of our fraternity but is also an author of A Faulkner Profile: The Man and The Writer. Through his work and experiences, Bill portrayed the values of scholarship, brotherhood, and lifelong learning that define SAE.
Bill was asked to provide a keynote address at Ohio Epsilon’s 2020 Founders Day, where collegians were captivated by his firsthand accounts, spanning nearly 75 years of history and his contributions as an author.
“I remember awed silence from the undergraduates in the crowd listening to his experiences over the years,” Nick Trelka (Cincinnati ‘05) said.
Bill’s impact resonated deeply within our fraternity. His ability to bridge the past and present is a testament to his commitment to SAE’s ideals of brotherhood. As we honor his memory, we cherish the moments he shared and the wisdom he imparted.
