As the first step toward a monumental fall semester, the newly formed New Mexico Tau Alumni House Corporation purchased back their original chapter house from SAE Financial & Housing (SAE F&H). In 2017, the previous house corporation approached SAE F&H for assistance due to vacancy and the struggles to financially support the property during a time of extended chapter closure. SAE F&H was able to take ownership of the property and invest capital in the form of extensive renovations and carry the operational costs of the vacant property. Over the past 8 years, SAE F&H partnered with the Fraternity Service Center to assist in the return of the collegiate chapter through the emerging chapter expansion process. As early as 2023, SAE F&H and key New Mexico alumni began discussions on how a newly organized and funded house corporation might be able to assume ownership and operation of the historic property. Through the growth of alumni support and work with a preferred banking partner, SAE F&H and the newly formed alumni house corporation were able to “close the deal” in early August 2025. As the icing on the cake, the collegiate chapter had one of their most successful fall recruitments, resulting in 15 newly initiated brothers!
