SAE Brothers Help UConn’s HuskyTHON Raise Over $2.1 Million

Last week, on March 8, just before midnight — when the rest of the realm began celebrating Founders’ Day, brothers of the Connecticut Beta Chapter gathered for “Night Of,” a celebration and the final reveal of the total funds raised for HuskyTHON, the University of Connecticut’s branch of the Children’s Miracle Network.

This year, UConn’s HuskyTHON raised over $2.1 million, ranking second in the nation, behind only Indiana University.

Leading this incredible effort was the Connecticut Beta Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. As a chapter, members raised over $47,000 — more than any other fraternity at the university. Beyond fundraising and collecting donations, brothers played a crucial role in the organization’s operations. Brother Paul Leahy served as Vice President of Finance and a member of the Steering Committee, overseeing all fundraising efforts and managing every dollar that came into the organization. Also on the Management Team was Brother Walker Toth, who served as Co-Director of Donation Management, overseeing canning efforts, donation processing, and the Donation Management Team, of which Brother Brenden Engels was a member. Together, Paul and Walker not only played essential roles in HuskyTHON’s success but also raised over $15,000 on their own. Their leadership was instrumental in ensuring the event’s smooth and successful execution.

Supporting the Steering Committee and Management Team were the Morale Captains, a group in which the Connecticut Beta chapter stood out as a leader. Brothers Jack Jannito, Suhaas Nadella, Irving Norwood, and William Clark all served as Morale Captains, collectively raising nearly $8,000.

Additionally, Brother Brandon Acervida, Michael Marques, Grayson Naizby, Ved Patel (Current Eminent Treasurer), and Brenden Engels led the rest of the chapter as Dance Representatives and Captains, helping the remainder of Connecticut Beta raise over $24,000.

Finally, the Connecticut Beta Chapter would like to recognize and congratulate their brothers who joined  HuskyTHON’s prestigious “Comma Club” this year, an honor given to those who raised over $1,000. Their dedication exemplifies Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s commitment to service, philanthropy, and living out the ideals depicted in the True Gentleman and envisioned by our founders.
