Recognizing a lifetime of service and loyalty to the Fraternity, the Distinguished Service Award is the highest individual award a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon may receive. Their actions exhibit their understanding of the Fraternity’s teachings, adherence to Fraternity Laws, attention to promoting its welfare, and exemplary conduct that guards its honor and high standing.
The Fraternity has 355,000+ initiated members; only 155 have been recognized with the Distinguished Service Award. Denver S. Dickerson (Nevada-Reno ‘64) is the most recent recipient, which was awarded on December 17, 2022, in Reno, Nevada.
Denver joined the Nevada Alpha Chapter of SAE in 1960. Serving as Eminent Chronicler, Little Sister
Chairman, IFC House Management Chairman, and House Manager. He repaired and installed the largest lions in the Realm at the chapter house, where they remain today. These points of pride were featured in The Record.
Denver was also recognized as the Outstanding SAE during the annual bean feed during his collegiate years.
As an alumnus, he has served as a loyal son of Minerva for nearly 60 years in various volunteer
roles on the house corporation, alumni association, house remodeling, maintenance, editor of the alumni
newsletter, and mentoring countless numbers of young men along the way.
He has been recognized by the national fraternity for his unwavering service with the order of the lion
four times and SAE’s second-highest honor – the merit key award.
Congratulations to Denver S. Dickerson, the 155th recipient of Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s Distinguished Service Award.
